The Current System is Unsustainable
The current system of college athletics is unsustainable. The costs of running athletic programs continue to rise, while the revenue generated by these programs is not keeping pace. This is putting a strain on athletic departments and universities, and it is making it difficult for them to provide student-athletes with the resources they need to succeed.
In addition, the current system is failing to meet the needs of student-athletes. Student-athletes are often treated like commodities, and they are not given the support they need to succeed academically and athletically. This is leading to a number of problems, including high dropout rates, mental health issues, and physical injuries.
The Need for Change
It is clear that the current system of college athletics is in need of change. There are a number of reforms that could be made to improve the system, including:
* Increasing funding for athletic programs * Providing student-athletes with more support services * Reducing the number of games and practices * Increasing the academic requirements for student-athletes * Giving student-athletes more control over their own lives
These are just a few of the reforms that could be made to improve the system of college athletics. It is important to remember that student-athletes are students first and athletes second. They deserve to be treated with respect and given the support they need to succeed.
